Microscope common troubleshooting

Pulished on Nov. 12, 2019

1. The lens tube slides on its own

This is one of the frequent failures of biological microscopes. Hold the two coarse handwheels with both hands and tighten them relatively hard. If you can't solve the problem, if you can't solve the problem, you should use a special double-column wrench to unscrew a coarse hand wheel and add a friction plate. After the hand wheel is tightened, if the rotation is very laborious, the friction plate is added. Too thick, can be changed to a thin one. It is easy to rotate with the handwheel, and the lens barrel moves up and down easily, and it does not fall on its own. Solving the problem that the lens barrel slides on its own can only be achieved by increasing the friction between the coarse adjustment hand wheel and the eccentric shaft sleeve.

2. Shader positioning failure

This may be caused by the shutter fixing screw being too loose and the positioning marbles escape from the positioning hole. Just put the marbles back into the positioning holes and tighten the fixing screws. If the shutter is difficult to rotate after tightening, add a washer between the visor and the rotation stage.

3. The objective lens converter is difficult to rotate or the positioning is malfunctioning.

Difficulty in turning the converter may be that the set screw is too tight to make it difficult to turn and damage the part. Too loose, the bearing marbles inside will be off track and squeezed together, making the rotation difficult. Loss of transducer positioning can sometimes be caused by broken or elastic deformation of the positioning spring. Generally, just replace the reeds.

4. The lens of the eyepiece or objective lens is contaminated or mildewed

If the lens is contaminated and not cleaned in time, mildew will occur. The treatment method is to first clean the sugar liquid and other contaminants with a clean soft silk cloth and warm water, then dry it with a dry silk cloth, then wash it with long-fiber cotton wool and some lens cleaning liquid, and finally blow it with a blower. Do not allow solvents such as alcohol or ether to penetrate into the lens of the microscope objective during cleaning. If the lens inside the eyepiece or objective lens is contaminated or mildewed, it must be removed and cleaned.

5. The frame and mirror hips cannot be fixed when tilted

This is caused by the looseness of the connecting screws of the microscope stand and the base. Use a dedicated double-ended wrench or the two eyelets that hold the eye nut with a sharp-nose pliers to tighten. If the problem is not solved after tightening, it is necessary to put a suitable gasket in the nut to solve it.

6. Dirty spots were found during use

If you find that the image on the display screen is dirty, then you should consider whether there is anything in the specimen room. If you find that there is no object in the specimen room, check the surface of the objective lens for any objects. If there is a dirt display, it will show dirty. Point, the solution is also very simple, as long as the surface of the objective lens and the specimen in the specimen room are removed.

7. The image is not clear when adjusting the zoom

If you find that the image is not clear when adjusting the zoom, check if the high-focus focus is clear. If it is not clear, just set it to the highest magnification and then re-focus.
